I just completed a few days of work at the State Fair of TX. Doing caricatures there enables me to meet lots of new folks, network with them, see a few of my friends who I haven’t seen in a year and once in a while I even see a few of my old high school classmates who just happen to be wandering through the tent I’m drawing caricatures in. It’s a treat coming out to the fair because something about it that lifts your spirits and you enjoy not only having a great time yourself, but it’s great to seen the smiles on the kids’ faces as they experience the attractions.  And, of course, many fair goers take advantage of the opportunity to get their family caricature drawn as something to keep for the rest of their lives to remind them of their special outing together . If you are interested in getting a caricature next year at the Fair, there will be a number of caricature artists to choose from. Just keep in mind that each individual caricature artist is unique in his own way.  The majority of caricaturists at the fair use black marker for the drawing and then apply airbrush to finish it out in color.  However, more and more of us are now using prisma color stix instead of airbrush.  Those of us to do use this method achieve a really great finished product as well that can wow you as good as the airbrush. There are other techniques as well.  Getting to do caricatures in color is always a special treat for me since most parties, weddings and corporate gigs that I do require only black & white for speed purposes.

Now that I’ve completed all my days at the 3 week long State Fair of Texas, I will definitely be looking for more gigs to fill my schedule for later this year.  Now that we’re into the holiday season, folks are actively looking at hiring caricature artists for their fall parties, including Halloween, Christmas, etc. Fall is also a hot time to hire a caricature artist for wedding receptions, birthday parties, employee appreciation dinners, corporate events, etc. Should you be needing a caricaturist for your event in Texas or in a nearby area, please don’t hesitate to call on me to amaze your guests with his spot-on likenesses.
